Partnership with Parents
Welfare Requirement: Safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
Statement of Intent
We believe that children benefit most from education and care when parents and nurseries work together in partnership.
Aims
Our aims are to:
Support parents as their children’s first and most important educators.
To involve parents in the life of the nursery and their children’s education.
To support parents in their own continuing education and personal development.
In order to fulfil these aims:
We are committed to ongoing dialogue with parents to improve our knowledge of the needs of the children to support their families.
Through access to written information and through regular informal communication, we inform all parents about how the group is run and its policies. We check to ensure parents understand the information that is given to them;
We inform parents on a regular basis about their child’s progress
We involve parents in the shared record keeping about their children-either formally or informally- and ensure parents have access to their children’s written records;
We provide opportunities for parents to contribute their own skills, knowledge and interests to the activities of the group
We provide information about opportunities for being involved in the nursery in ways, which are accessible to parents with basic skills needs, or those for whom English is an additional language.
We hold meetings in venues which are accessible to all
We welcome the contributions of parents, in whatever form these may take
We inform all parents of the systems for registering queries, complaints or suggestions and check to ensure these are understood. All parents have access to our written complaints procedure, and
We provide opportunities for parents to learn about the pre-school curriculum and about young children’s learning, in the nursery and at home.
At Playdays we recognise the importance of partnership with parents we pride ourselves on having a strong link with parents. At Playdays we ask for parents input where possible. We recognise that, as the child’s parent, you know them best so we ask for ideas and suggestions towards your child’s individual planning. This helps us to plan activities around your child’s particular interests. When planning new capital projects for the setting we encourage parents to be involved in the planning stages so that we can be confident that we deliver what our parents want.
Playdays also creates a newsletter every three months called Playdays Print. This covers the up and coming events in nursery and also celebrates what has occurred in the previous season.
In our reception area, we have a parents notice board it is on here where you will find our latest OFTSED inspection report amongst other things. We also post important articles on our website and on an A-board at the entrance to the setting.
Every three months we host a Parent Forum, where we can discuss our plans for the future and where to make improvements to the provision. The agenda is tailored to meet parent’s requests. Recently the Head teacher from one a local school spoke about the EYFS in reception class. All parents are welcome and we take on board any comments or views raised.
