A Typical Day in the Life of a Baby at Playdays
Playdays is open from 7.30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday for 51 weeks of the year.
Morning starts with the hustle and bustle of arrivals with breakfast being offered to the early birds. We offer breakfast up until 9am. During this time the babies have free play, which includes activities such as treasure baskets, musical instruments. Our staff are confident and experienced in settling our children into nursery.
Once breakfast is finished the babies then experience messy activities and sensory activities. These include our fibre optic lights, shaving foam with the brushes and outdoor play. The babies have open access to a secure, dedicated baby beach via an indoor woodland comprising a winding path, trees, moss carpets and a comfy corner in which to relax and observe others. The room is lit with fairy lights and is used for sensory purposes and an area in which to explore treasure baskets. Children are also encouraged to experience different textures and materials using a curiosity box with 3-mirrored sides into which the babies crawl.
With all the excitement, it isn’t unusual for some babies will have a little snooze and nappies will also be changed.
Lunch is served at 11.30 although this tends to be more flexible within the baby room.
From 12 to 1pm the babies like to relax after their lunch and will build, using wooden blocks, or investigate the sensory bottles. During this time the babies nappies will be changed.
1pm is circle time. This is an important time for the babies as it is during this time that the babies take part in singing nursery rhymes as a group. The team sing all sorts of lullabies and nursery rhymes to the babies and encourage them to join in by clapping their hands.
After circle time most of the babies go down for their afternoon nap. For any babies that are still full of energy there is an opportunity to play in the baby gym. This involves all kinds of fun experiences such as going up the steps, through tunnels and down the slide.
3pm is when most of the babies get up from their afternoon nap. Tea is served at 3.30pm. Again times are more flexible within the baby room.
After tea the babies nappies will be changed again.
From 4pm to 6pm babies have the choice to explore all three rooms within the baby room and outdoors.
Please note that the babies and staff do go outside to play in all weathers. It is important that you dress your child appropriately for the weather conditions. Playdays will provide outdoor clothing in the form of water proof suits for your baby.
