A Day in the Life of a Pre-Schooler
7.30 – 9am Early morning free play and breakfast is served. The Pre-school children serve their own breakfast selecting which cereal they would like. They are able to put bread in the toaster and butter it. This is supervised by our staff to encourage independence and develop motor skills.
9 – 9.30am The children are welcomed in to the setting by sitting together and participating in circle time and story time.
9.30 -11am During this period the children are provided with opportunities to play freely inside. They are able to make the most of all our resources and toys, including our home corner which is changed to reflect the current theme. Creative activities are set up at this time for the children to enjoy such as gloop and shaving foam.
Outdoor play will be made available for the children continuously. Outdoor play includes activities such as water play, den building, growing plants, rope bridge, rope swing, riding on bikes and playing in a massive sand pit.
Snacks are provided and children are encouraged to be involved in its preparation.
Children also have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the local community by taking part in trips to local places of interest.
11.30 -1pm Lunch is served, such as Farmhouse Mince followed by banana’s and custard. This is then followed by story time after which children are free to play and choose their own toys.
Children who attend for the afternoon sessions are welcomed into the setting by sitting together and participating in circle time and a story with the rest of the group.
During this period the children are given the opportunity to play freely indoors, making the most of all our extensive resources including smart board, trains, mobilo, construction equipment and many other toys, crafts and games. Outdoor Play opportunities are constantly available to our children.
3.30 – 4pm A light tea is served at this time as we want to encourage children to enjoy their evening meal at home with their families.
4-6pm- Children are encouraged to enjoy unstructured free play during this period of the day.
