I am an experienced cook with over 28 years experience in the catering industry ranging from confectionery, baking and catering for hotels, restaurant, nursing homes and colleges. I am passionate about food and will ensure that only the best seasonal produce is used in the preparation of a diverse and interesting food at Playdays. The large garden area within the nursery has been fully utilised to provide a diverse learning experience for the children including a planting area. Here the children are encouraged to grow their own food, learn about vegetables and help prepare healthy meals. I am keen to develop my knowledge, and that of my team, in order to continually push the boundaries so that every child is challenged and entertained by the activities and learning opportunities within the setting. Since opening the nursery in September 2004 I have studied part-time to strengthen my knowledge of childcare by completing ‘Stepping into Chilcare’ and attaining NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Childcare Studies. I have now completed my Forest School training and am a fully qualified level 3 practitioner. I take the eldest group of children to Haigh Hall every other Monday, it is at the camp that the children become connected with nature and learn about the great outdoors.
